From October 2005, a webcam has been transmitting images live from the interior of a haunted manor house in Berkshire, England. [more...]

The image (left) is collected pixel by pixel across the room from top left to bottom right in vertical lines. At a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels each complete image represents the previous 21.33 hours (approx) of time and is updated continuously, marking visible fluctuations in light and movement throughout the day and night and being archived at two hour intervals.

This version of The Spectrascope was commissioned for the StoryRooms exhibition in the 1830 Warehouse of the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester (11th October 2005 until 15th January 2006), and has been exhibited as part of The Blur of The Otherworldly: Contemporary Art, Technology and the Paranormal, at the Center for Art and Visual Culture, Baltimore (20th October to 17th December 2005); A Retrospective of British Media Art, Kunsthaus, Dresden, Germany (9-19 November, 2006) and Video Vortex, at Montevideo/The Netherlands Media Art Institute in Amsterdam (20th October to 2nd December 2007).
