it seems that Captain Cook's parents cottage was transported from Great Ayton, Yorkshire in 1933 and reconstructed brick by brick here in Melbourne....

Asking about the origins of Batman drive, I found out yesterday that this was after one of the founding fathers of Melbourne, John Batman. Vince told me that at one point Melbourne was going to be named Batmania, which would have made it full of Batmen (and women).
